A full head and neck exam is carried out, many times with a fiberoptic scope to look into your throat if a neck lump is present. Some masses or growths may need to be biopsied. Neck masses may need CT scans.
Treatment depends on the location of the mass. Small growths in the mouth or nose can be removed in clinic. Other larger masses may need surgical excision in the operating room after careful consideration of all the possible treatment risks and benefits.
